A digital marketer is nothing without digital marketing tools.
In my career, I have relied on many different digital marketing tools to do my job effectively. Best of all almost all of the tools are completely FREE.
I try to keep this list updated regularly but if you know of a great tool that I haven’t listed let me know so I can add it.
Google Alerts – Get alerts for any searchable topic on Google. Use these alerts to republish content to your follows and grow your online brand.
Google Trends – See the latest trends, data and visualizations from Google. This tool is perfect for figuring out what people are talking about. You can then use this information to create compelling content.
Hemmingway App – This digital marketing tool makes your writing better by improving readability. It will let you know if you are using too much passive voice or if your sentences are hard to read. Great tool for writing articles.
Portent – Content title generator. Can’t think of a title for your blog, check out this handy tool.
Scoop.it – Get content for any topic you want. This tool will let you grow your online presence by publishing curated content.
Vennage – Make an infographic for free in minutes.
Wordcounter.net – Yes, this free tool will count your words but it will also improve your word choices, writing style, and grammar.
Canva – Need creatives but aren’t the best in Photoshop? Create simple visuals in an easy drag-and-drop interface.
Flat Icon – Free graphic icons to use on for your marketing creative.
GIMP – Open source image editor. This tool isn’t as powerful as Photoshop but it is free and easy to create quick and dirty graphic designs.
Pexels – Free stock photos. The best place to find totally free stock images to use royalty free.
Boomerang for Gmail – This is a great plugin tool for Gmail. Simply put, it allows you to schedule emails to be sent later or send you email reminders. There are a lot of use cases for this tool but an easy one is to write emails.
MailChimp – Get the most out of your email campaigns with an easy user interface, great email templates, and intuitive automation. MailChimp makes it easy to collect emails address and communicate with your user base.
Rapportive – This useful plugin shows you everything about your contacts right inside your Gmail inbox. It can tell you their job, company, and even show you their LinkedIn Profile.
Free App Analytics – Get free user attribution and analytics in one free SDK. Now you can figure out where you are acquiring your users and what they are doing inside your app.
SmartURL – This is a great link shortener and link redirect tool. You can create one link that will redirect users to different sites based on country and device.
IFTTT – This is a must have tool. You can connect almost anything to everything in order to make your life easier. Automate your life.
Grammarly – Spell checker used to be enough, not anymore. Grammarly corrects your grammar and you can even download a plugin for your Chrome browser to make sure everything you type in your email or on the web is grammatically correct.
CopyScape – Use this tool to search the web to see if anyone is copying your content.
Google Keyword Planner – Most likely your first stop when looking to optimize a web page for SEO. To achieve great SEO, it starts with a great keyword and the best search engine.
GTMetix – This is a great digital marketing tool to measure your website’s performance. In fact, it is fast, easy to use, and gives get tips on how to improve performance.
Moz Keyword Explorer – Discover and prioritize the best keywords to target for SEO.
Moz Open Site Explorer – Research backlinks and find link-building opportunities for your website.
Quicksprout – Helps your website grow traffic by providing tools to analyze your site and suggest changes.
Website Authority Checker – This is a great tool for checking website domain authority. Use it to check your own website or the websites of others. Domain authority is a metric, developed by SEOMoz, to predict the ability of a website / domain to rank in search engines. Domain authority uses a 0 to 100 logarithmic scale. A high Domain authority score means your complete website / all the pages on your domain has the potential to rank well in search engine results.
Yoast – This is a great SEO tool for WordPress websites. SEO has rules and when you follow the rules you can achieve great results. Yoast gives you a checklist that allows you to search engine optimize your WordPress site. They also have a paid product but the free tool is very powerful.
Buffer – This platform allows you to manage all your social media in one place
Hootsuite– Like Buffer, this digital marketing tool allows you to manage all your social media in one place. Also, you can schedule posts and get analytics.
Google Analytics – Gain insights on your website or app traffic.
Hotjar – Understand what users are doing on your website. You can see where they are clicking on heat maps, recording visitors movements, check conversion funnels and form analysis.
Medium – Blogging platform that you can instantly connect to your twitter followers. Having a personal website is a must for any digital marketer and allows you to try out many different digital marketing tools.
Optimizely – Tool that allows you to run different tests on your website or app. Users can test different landing pages, buttons, or copy by running an A/B test to divert the traffic evenly.
SumoMe Share – Free social media buttons for your website.
WordPress – One of the most popular blogging sites. You can have a website up and running for few in minutes.
